We love working with charities and helping put our knowledge and expertise to use across our hire services. Whether that's event lighting, sound system hire, 2 way radios or something else.
Recently. We were approached by our local Rotary club who were looking to take on a bit of a challenge as part of a global campaign to highlight Polio awareness. They wanted to do something special to join in on the global polio day which was on the 24th October this year, 2017. Both them and other rotary clubs around the UK and Ireland plus across the world were looking to go #Purple4Polio on the 24th October. This was done in many forms with clubs around the UK taking it on in various ways. Many clubs and venues around the UK teamed up to go purple for polio by lighting up local landmarks.
Narberth Rotary were no different. They wanted to join in by lighting a key local building in the week of the global polio day to highlight awareness and also keep interest in the work they do in the local community here in Pembrokeshire. We discussed their initial plans and although it wasn't able to be pulled off after technical problems beyond both of our controls, we were able to light a prominent local building for a week that was located in the heart of the town.
Narberth Rotary have had articles in the press to raise awareness and show their efforts to local people and the local school about polio and just how close we are to eradicating it globally.
With the clubs plans of planting purple crocus within the town and at the primary school combined with lighting a large building in the town purple, Narberth Rotary have certainly made a big purple impression on those in the community.
As soon as we found out a new building we could work on plus take on the 'cadbury purple' colour that was chosen for the job. We set about getting the building lighting in place. With some 70w floodlights and PAR 64 LED spotlights, complete with rain covers for that predictable welsh, rainy weather. We were able to launch their #Purple4Polio campaign.
The Queens Hall in Narberth has been lit all week complete with Rotary banners both inside and out to explain the reason for the lighting and also how people can pledge their support to the End Polio Now campaign.

We're pleased to have helped a fantastic local and nationally known charity plus do our bit on a global campaign at the same time. The building looks superb and the Rotary Club have certainly left a big purple impression on the locals.
